It's Not Over Yet: The Insanely Adorable Art of Akira Yonekawa

I think for most humans art is pretty cut and dry. Either you fall in love with it immediately, or you just kinda feel indifferent about it. I fell in love with Akira Yonekawa's art immediately. For me, it's pretty darn irresistible and I would own every single piece of it if I could. Very few people are able to capture the vintage cartoon newsprint style while maintaining a modern air of freshness and originality.

Here's Akira's charming bio:
I have been working independently as an illustrator.
I lived and work in Aichi,Japan.
My style is inspired by old comic magazine and pop-printing. It has become the motif of my illustration is the old comic magazine. Paper that has changed by long years. And because he is attracted to the sound words that the characters speak among the moral story. I want to convey a positive and positive emotions by representing scene of these old comic . Of course, these are my original character.
If you love Akira Yonekawa's work as much as I do, be sure to check out the additional art on his Website, Tumblr, and Behance!

Butcher Billy Gets Pac-Man Fever!

For those unfamiliar, Butcher Billy is a terrific artist/illustrator from Brazil. In the last several years, he has gained quite a bit of attention for his wonderful illustrations re-envisioning punk and new wave musicians as superheroes, characters from The Breakfast Club, and Nintendo mainstays. For example, Morrissey as Superman, Devo as The Flash, Joy Divison as Batman, Sid & Nancy as Mario and Peach, etc... You can view some of those here. They are brilliant. Actually, all of Butcher Billy's work is brilliant.

Recently, I have noticed Butcher Billy turning his attention to the wonderful world of Pac-Man. This week, he added two amazing new Pac-Man illustrations. Additionally, in the last couple of years, he has included Pac-Man quite a few other times. Is he prepping for a Pac-Man themed show? One can only hope.

Regardless, check out the work below! Then, if you have a few minutes, go check out Butcher Billy's Website, Behance, Tumblr, or one of his stores such as Redbubble, Curioos, or Neatoshop!

Congratulations! It's A Bear: The Woof Worthy Artwork of Tai Wang

I am seriously smitten with the playful, bear-centric art of Taiwan based illustrator/painter Tai Wang. If you are into stocky, muscular gents at all, or are fond of the bara genre, you have probably run across his wonderful comic series Sexy B (Always Woof). It features big burly, bearded men in love being ridiculously cute and cuddly. But it doesn't stop there...for years and years Tai Wang has been bringing us charming, and often surreal, comics navigating the ins and outs of relationships and the common struggles we all face in every day life. Other titles include Private Party, Soul Tattoo, Climax, and his newest creation (which has not been translated to English, yet) Gibberish.

Despite all of this fantastic work, very little biographical info is available online. So, I set out to change that. Via the magic of the internet, Tai shared a bit about himself.
"I started making art since I have memory. My mother told me, she married my father because he can paint. And she wants a child who can makes arts. LOL. She took me to learn arts from a painter in my home town when I was very little. Since then, I never stop making and loving arts. I do paintings, portraits, illustrations, installations, and comics. And I think I will do more!
At the end of 2012, I started my gay bear series "Sexy B" which I intend to bring my sense of humor but also sexy expressions to this gay bear culture I am living in. And I want to make it "sexy", but not "porny". It's fun. I am really enjoying it!"
And when I questioned Tai about his fondness for big, sweet, muscle bound bears, he replied, "What can I say? They ALWAYS WOOF!"

If you would like to explore more of Tai Wang's art on your own, I suggest his Sexy B (Always Woof) Website, Tai Wang Website, Sexy B Tumblr, Tai Wang Tumblr, and why not be his pal on Facebook!
