Terror Vision Is Bringing VHS Back Starting With "The Mystery in Old Bathbath" by Miss Pussycat & Quintron!

Ok, so this is so awesomely fucked up and wonderful I don't even know where to begin. So, I am just gonna try to explain it in logical order. Terror Vision Records and Video is a venture founded by Ryan Graveface of indie music label Graveface Records. Graveface is known for putting out music from amazing bands like Xiu Xiu, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Haley Bonar, Hospital Ships, Dosh, Whirr, Serengeti, and late, great Jason Molina.

Terror Vision has three goals:
1. Release obscure movie soundtracks on vinyl (horror/sci-fi/oddball)
2. Release films on VHS - both new and classics (horror/sci-fi/oddball)
3. VHS rental shop located within Graveface Records & Curiosities in Savannah, GA

According to a statement on the Terror Vision webpage by Ryan Graveface:
AT SOME POINT IN 2013 IT DAWNED ON ME THAT NONE OF THE CURRENT CROP OF SOUNDTRACK LABELS, ALTHOUGH GREAT, WERE RELEASING ANYTHING THAT WAS NEAR AND DEAR TO MY HEART. SURE I LOVE CREEPSHOW, HALLOWEEN, POLTERGEIST ETC BUT WHERE WAS THE LOVE FOR THE OBSCURE TITLES? THE TITLES I WORSHIPED GROWING UP THAT PEOPLE SO CALLOUSLY REFER TO AS "B MOVIES" OR MOVIES THAT ARE "SO BAD THAT THEY'RE GOOD". THE TITLES THAT VARĂˆSE SARABANDE HASN'T ALREADY RELEASED ON VINYL 20 YEARS AGO THAT YOU CAN STILL ACTIVELY PURCHASE ON DISCOGS. THE TITLES THAT MADE ME WANT TO MAKE MY OWN HORROR MOVIES AND REALIZE THAT I COULD...ALL I NEED IS A CAMERA, A KILLER IDEA AND THE MOTIVATION TO FINISH ONCE I BEGIN. FINALLY, IN 2014 I JUST SO HAPPENED TO RUN INTO 2 HORROR DIRECTORS (SEPARATELY) THAT I'VE LOOKED UP TO MY ENTIRE LIFE. THIS IDEA CAME UP OUT OF THE BLUE IN BOTH CONVERSATIONS AND WHAT THEY SAID WAS BOTH FASCINATING AND MOTIVATING. IN SHORT, WALKING AWAY FROM THOSE CONVERSATIONS I SIMPLY GOT THE COJONES TO JUST GO AHEAD AND DO IT. THE RELEASES ON TERROR VISION MIGHT NOT BE FOR EVERYONE, BUT THOSE THAT "GET IT" WILL TRULY LOVE IT.
The first VHS release will be "The Mystery in Old Bathbath" by well known husband and wife team Miss Pussycat and Quintron. Release date is May 22nd. Normally they are billed the other way around, but in this release Miss Pussycat's puppets take center stage.

Based out of New Orleans, filmmaker, puppeteer, musician, and all-around creative artist Miss Pussycat has been entertaining audiences for over 15 years with her traveling puppet show and collaborations with experimental electronic musician Quintron. A Quintron and Miss Pussycat show is an unmatched live experience (the duo will be on tour this summer) but Miss Pussycat has also translated some of her shows to film. Three of these, as well as soundtrack album Athropomorphizer will be released over the coming months on Terror Vision Records & Video.

Here's the plot to "The Mystery in Old Bathbath":
Something is wrong with the Happy Tree! For some reason, he can't send out secret messages anymore. Trixie and Marsha set off to an ancient spa town to find a cure before all his branches fall off. But this town is kind of funny and the historic Art Museum of Bathbath seems to have some secrets of it's own. And so does the drummer JJ Suade... Adventure unfolds as Trixie and Marsha try to save the Happy Tree and look at art made by thirsty people.

Confused? I am not so sure this insanely brilliant trailer will help much. But, I highly suggest you watch it. Like now. Like ten times in a row.

By the way, if this isn't enough for you, Terror Vision's first four VHS to Vinyl Soundtrack releases will be:
T.V.001 "Not of this Earth" OST by Chuck Cirino ('88)
T.V.002 "555" OST by Frankie 'Hollywood' Rodriguez ('88)
T.V.003 "From a Whisper to a Scream (The Offspring)" OST by Jim Manzie ('87)
T.V.004 "Killing Spree" OST by Perry Monroe ('87)

Underground Gay Music Series: XIU XIU

Xiu Xiu is perhaps on of the most respected, successful avant garde indie rock bands of the last decade or so. Since its inception, band leader Jamie Stewart has been the only constant band member. However, that is all that is necessary for Xiu Xiu to exist as it is Jamie's bold and chaotic vision that creates and maintains the Xiu Xiu sound. Currently the band is only comprised of two members, Stewart, and the wonderful Angela Seo. Over the course of Stewart's career, he has released 11 full length albums (soon to be twelve) and countless singles and collaborations. Prolific seems too mild a descriptor.

Though Xiu Xiu is not a gay band per se, Stewart has never shied away from his homosexuality. In 2003, Xiu Xiu released Fag Patrol which was a beautiful acoustic reworking of songs from his previous albums. Currently, Xiu Xiu is following up 2012's critically acclaimed release Always only Polyvinyl Records with Nina, due out Dec 3rd on Graveface Records. Nina is a collection of songs originally recorded by the legendary jazz singer Nina Simone, but Stuart's interpretation is far from straightforward. Once again proving, that Stewart is one of the most unique and original voices in music.
